I have had such a burden in the last few months for all us tired twenties. Has the ten years of being twenty always been this hard, or is it our generation with working moms and career women who have created the tired twenties syndrome? Am I the only tired twenties out there?
I feel like no matter how much sleep I get it is never enough, and no matter how much I get accomplished it never adds up or compares to all the Martha Stewart clean till you drop, look perfect, mom of the year achievers out there. And has anyone noticed that this group goes unnoticed among church groups? I mean where are all the young ladies at? It is few and far between that you will find an abundance of twenty something year old ladies involved in church, or churches having a focused group that reaches out to this demographic. However, it is in our twenties that women need God more than ever. For the most part, we have just graduated high school and have now been thrown into college to decided "what you will do with the rest your life" and then we fall in love get married and have kids (in that order for the most part :) ). And in the chaos of it all we loose ourselves completely. Not to mention we have no idea who we are in Christ or how we can be used by Him to reach the world from behind a stack of papers in the office or a pile of laundry at home.
Can you relate? If so please take the time and share with me your tired twenties story so I can seek out God through the eyes of this group to see how we can make a difference. After all, we are called not only to be transformed through Christ (Romans 12:2), but to also be transformers in our world (Mark 16:15).
Thanks ladies for your time and input!
Your "tired twenties" sister in Christ,
Kristi David

Apostle Paul meet Walmart
I wonder if the Apostle Paul had any idea that his words spoken and recorded in Philippians , "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me", would be prayed aloud by this frazzled mom before embarking upon the devil itself, known as Wal-Mart. You see Wal-Mart is like a period; we endure it only because it is absolutely necessary. It causes headaches, sudden outburst of emotion, extreme fatigue and crankiness. Now that I think of it, Wal-Mart should be required to put up a "Caution before Entering" sign stating all the possible side-effects from shopping in their store. However, it seems that almost every week a trip to the local Wal-Mart is deemed necessary. I mean where else can we go when one needs to buy groceries while at the same time purchase a new shower curtain some plants for the yard, a wedding gift, the twenty baby shower gifts for all of your expecting girlfriends, and some oil for the car? And of course there is only one hour until the next awaited appointment in life, so the one stop shop becomes a necessary evil.
"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me".
This passage of scripture is repeated as I open the door to the back seat of the car to retrieve my adorable but totally stubborn and controlling daughter who has, in the five minute drive from our house to the local Wal-Mart, taken off both of her shoes and socks, made a pond of juice from her sippy on the top part of her shirt and created a piece of modern art on her pants from the day old Fig Newton she must have found lodged in her car seat.
After a grueling forty-five minutes, an entire week's salary, two major meltdown, (one performed by my daughter, and the other from her totally exhausted mother) we both make it out alive and head home to start the next adventure: making dinner.
Life can seem so impossible at times, and even pointless. It is easy to loose sight of the Great Commission of Jesus Christ when trying to get meals made, clothes washed and kids put in bed. Why are we here? As a mom and busy housewife, who also works a part-time job, and is married to a pastor, how can I find the time to share Jesus with the world? It is hard enough trying to find the time to read the bible myself.
"I can do all things who Christ, who strengthens me".
It is amazing the strength I can gain from just speaking that scripture aloud. The Lord has a plan for us all and he will give us the strength to make it through each and every moment in life. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “‘For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you; to give you a future and a hope’”, and Nehemiah 8:10 says, "The Joy of the Lord is my strength".
So the next time you are in the midst of a meltdown while scrambling through the isles of Wal-Mart, remind yourself that you can do all things through Christ, who strengthens you. Live in the Joy and promise of our Lord and Savior and remember, he has a specific plan for your life.
